It was a quiet moment:
Just you and me, sitting side by side, listening to the sounds of nature.
The gentle lapping of the sea, the soft whisper of the wind.
We sat there in silence, no words between us.
An entire conversation passed between us.
Within our silence, we spoke volumes.
The sun heated up, peaked, and fell;
A sight so familiar, yet so different.
We stayed that way, not moving, not speaking.
It feels like eternity.
It feels like a second.
As black descends all around us, we feel
the end of time.
You stand up, about to walk away.
Stop.
Turn.
Say:
"Is that who you want to be?"
I hesitate.
Nod.
"Alright then," you say.
"You can be me when I'm gone."
