project pilot

two posts in a day...guess there's a first for everything :)
anyways. just saw project pilot on central, and had some thoughts on it:

okay the 1st finalist: kinda liked the section, with the world war 2 twist. plus keagan kang's in it so, hey! hahaha...but they killed off nicholas lee! whoa. thought he'd be on for the whole show (i mean if it gets picked to do a show, that is.). but on the whole, i thought it was pretty cool. i like the polaroid shots for the flashback to each of the army guys' lives outside of the army. actually, i like the concept a lot. i mean, you gotta wonder whether what our friends in the army learn will help them survive world war two. and whether it'll save our lives too.

okay the 2nd one was...urh. OH. the rosalind pho one. some pawn shop thing. that was okay, i guess. kinda draggy and entirely too predictable. i bet by the end of the show, rosalind pho falls in love with jason chan, and she and lim kay tong (who plays her grandfather) patch up all their differences and run their lovely pawn shop together. the end. it only took the pilot ep for me to figure that out.

3rd one
was that really stoopid psuedo reality show about ficitional stars on a soap opera or something. it was, in a word, lame. sorry if that's harsh, but the whole "tongue samba" thing did not work for me. the lines were funny, i'll give you that. was quite amused by jason chan defending his power rangers thing, but i think i liked him better as the lawyer-turn-coffeeshop boy in the 2nd one than as the actor in the 3rd one. plus the whole thing about him kissing debra teng to death literally is just a bit too extreme(ly dumb) for my taste.

the 4th one was decent...about 4 city kids sent to live in the kampong, having to get accustomed to working in the mud and doing their laundry etc etc. it's interesting if you think about it. how many of us city people can deal with life in the boondocks? i could do it, but i'd probably gripe. a LOT. let alone a bunch of 9 to 11 yr old kids who've grown up in singapore's affluent society with maids at their beck and call. but if it became a show, i highly doubt i'd watch it.

ah the 5th one, 25 frames til midnight. the reason why i paid attention to project pilot in the first place. haha had to see for myself if it was worth rishi skipping out on most of our meetings on the final week of our 111 presentation. grins. but i gotta admit, the concept's cool. and i think i've learnt quite a bit from the pilot ep, esp the comments given by the judges. something to think about if i get into ebm in yr3...

so on the whole, i think the only 2 shows i'd follow would be the section and 25 frames till midnight. (yes, rishi, i will root for you if the show gets picked up. :p)
