and the winner is...

After a long, looonngg night in my living room, only one was left standing.
Or left awake, more accurately.

In an attempt to watch all three Lord of the Rings extended versions consecutively, our night began at 9pm. Those in attendance were: (in order of arrival) Me, Charmaine, Dien, Adelyn, Zumou, Michelle and Hwee Ying.

Amidst the banding of the Fellowship, the first casualty to the cause was Adelyn, who dozed off. The night progressed with much food being chowed down, the group still going strong. But by the time Frodo and Sam left for Mordor on their own, more troops conceded defeat. As the Fellowship separated, so did our merry band of watchers as Charmaine, Adelyn and Zumou took off.

While the journey continued, another victim was claimed as Hwee Ying, too, conked out quite comfortably on the couch. By the time we entered the battle for Helm's Deep, Michelle and I both valiantly tried and failed to stay awake, thus leaving it up to Dien to hold up the fort.

Which he did admirably well by watching the entire extended trilogy.
*Pause for rounds of applause, catcalls and wolfwhistles*

So without further ado, we shall crown Dien the champion of the Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy Consecutive Marathon July 2006. You did what we could not.
