There's something about the last line of the finale song from The Phantom of the Opera that always gets me. I mean, it's not like I start bawling or anything. But just for that instant, when the Phantom sings:
"You alone can make my song take flight. It's over now, the music of the night."
That anguished tone, the emotion in those lyrics, that final refrain of music, makes me pause whatever I'm doing just so I can fully absorb that moment.
Of course, that pause only comes when I'm listening to Colm Wilkinson as the Phantom. Gerard Butler, while undeniably hotter, just does not have that voice. (CW being the Canadian Cast Recording Phantom and GB being the movie Phantom, fyi to all non-PotO-ers)
And, wow, does this just confirm my total musical geekness or what. Haha.
