little perk ups

You know how there are some days that you just feel so down about everything?

And then something happens. You have a nice chat with a good friend to catch up on each other's life, you read something that feels good, you hear a song that just perks you up. And suddenly life seems less dreary.

That's what happened yesterday. As you can tell from the previous post, I was in a pretty down-and-out mood thanks to work and stuff. Then I got a message from Marina online about how she hadn't seen me in awhile, and we started to catch up on each other's life.

And guess what! I now officially have a friend to call when I'm tossed in jail. Haha. So exciting :) She's a full-fledged lawyer now! Well, she will be by the end of the month anyway. But since I don't intend to get tossed into jail within this month (well. let's hope not at least.), that's alright.

We talked a bit about how this was really a sign that we were all growing up, then moved on to the important things in life. Like her going to Turkey (!!) for a holiday soon. Or like when internship ENDS (43 days!!). Or like me cooking up scenarios for her and her Office Boy. Laughs. That was fun.

I was also reading her blog and she posted some stuff about my birthday night at Wala Wala's that really made me smile. Hope you don't mind that I copied it :)

And last night.. while we were at wala's watching EIC, I sneaked off to dedicate a birthday song to hx! I had been excited about it the whole day.. I kept going, "she's gonna love it! it's gonna be the best birthday present ever, jack's going to sing to her!" =) Some time later, Rai picked up my dedication, and went.. "to hx... where is she?" her response: "you have GOT to be kidding me!!" I gleefully pointed to her, and yes the whole band played a birthday song for her =) Then when extending my parking I sneaked off with hy to get a slice of cake for her, and after the gig was over we sang her a b'day song and cut the cake for her. She seems pleased! Yayy =)

It
completely cheered me up because it reminded me of the fabulous time I had with them, and of what absolutely fantabulous friends I have. Haha birthday surprises are the best of all, because you're totally not expecting it, and it wasn't even just one but TWO surprises :):) Just so you know, I wasn't just pleased. It was totally a big happy moment. Grins.

On the music side, I finally got hold of Jon McLaughlin's Indiana CD which means I can FINALLY listen to Already In without having to go through Youtube! Whee!

Also, heard a song called Shine by Andy Stochansky which for some reason seemed to cheer me up. Maybe because it's such a bouncy happy sounding song, and maybe because the lyrics are pretty great. And since it's left in me such a lovely mood, I'm going to post it after this :)
