UN-believable.
That's my review of the Michael Bublé concert in one word.
Had the time of my life this evening (minus the rushing here and there, and the massive traffic jam)
It all began with a pitch black indoor stadium as the band played an intro. Then a spotlight shines on a platform and there's the man of the night, singing "Feeling Good".
Michael Bublé's voice is excellent, and the way he just moooves on stage just shows how much fun he's having being up there - and that enthusiasm just spills over. Watching him sing and dance in that suit all over the stage was like watching the essence of the swing era, a younger Frank Sinatra just in the groove.
(Although something has to be said about the terrible acoustics of the indoor stadium. Good grief. There were times when I just had to cringe when the trumpets hit a high note. Someone should realize that the sound of the instruments, especially brass wind instruments, shouldn't have mikes with volumes like that.)
After "Sway", Bublé stops singing for awhile to say his hellos. He is charming, entertaining, witty, and incredibly amusing. He voices a note of thanks and apology to the 'manly men' who were there because their girlfriends or wives all wanted to watch Michael Bublé, and they'd gone along to please them despite thinking "Michael Bublé is such a wanker".
Apart from showcasing his unbelievable talent with jazz music, both old and new, Michael Bublé clearly told his audience that he's also an entertainer. He had the audience cheering for him and laughing at his acts in between songs.
The most memorable segment of the night has got to be the point where he announced that he was sick of all this jazz garbage, and decided to try opera (and to hell with Josh Groban). He spared us half a minute into his opera rendition. Then, he decided it was time to try some rock and roll, and here comes Maroon 5's "This Love". Some excited member of the audience professed her love for Buble, and he replied "You may say that now, but by the end of next week you'll be loving the 'New Kids' or something. But I'll take it anyway." Then, he became Michael Jackson, complete with slick dance moves and a crotch-grab....for which he apologizes to an adult who came with a 6-year-old kid, acknowledging that they came for a classy performance and got him instead.
Another moment that just has to be stated: his sudden springing off the stage and straight into the audience, dashing past the entire catagory a seats and straight to.....the section I was in.
Just, y'know, on the other aisle away from me.
Believe me when I say Michelle and I were groaning over the unfairness of it all. (We were oh so SO close to him! Sighs.)
It must've been a nightmare for the personnel as security ran over to herd him back to the stage, a process that took quite some time because of the hordes of fans who just swallowed him up. People were dashing down from ten rows up just to catch hold of him.
My favourite lines from his acts:(or what I can recall to the best of my ability)
To the 8000plus audience: "It's so intimate, isn't it?"
"Thanks to all the men, all the [in a really low voice] manly men, who came with their girlfriends and wives who saw my picture and said [in a falsetto] 'Oh, look! Michael Bublé's coming to town! Let's go!' I know you were thinking, 'Michael Bublé's such a wanker. I'd rather be home watching TV.'"
"I said that [the previous line] when I was in Australia, and I looked at this nice couple sitting near the front. The guy looked back and said: "[in a decent Australian accent] That's my bloody sister!" (Pause) "I don't know how I'm going to go from incest to a love song."
On the crowd's response to him mimicking music legends: "Ray Charles gets this [two limp claps]. I mention Michael Jackson's name and you go wild! What's wrong with you people?"
"I want you to turn to the person by your side, the one you didn't come with. You'll never have to see this shmuck again."
And so, so many more that I just can't recall this instant. (Help me out, Mich! Hehz.)

All in all, it was an incredible night. I'm definitely gonna go if he performs here again (oh please please please let him perform here again!), and believe me. I'm gonna sit further front this time.
